What’s New in the 2026 ISA

ONC recently released the 2026 Interoperability Standards Advisory (ISA) Reference Edition. This year’s update incorporates the Federal FHIR®Action Plan, which informs federal investment in and adoption of the HL7®FHIR standard. Initially released in 2024, the action plan provides strategic direction for advancing shared decision-making, improving care coordination, and deepening patient engagement across federal agencies. The plan will continue to evolve to reflect new federal investments and emerging industry trends.
