Now Available: Updated 2023 CMS QRDA I Implementation Guide (IG), Schematron, and Sample Files for Hospital Quality Reporting
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has published an update to the 2023 CMS Quality Reporting Document Architecture (QRDA) Category I Implementation Guide (IG), Schematron, and Sample Files for Hospital Quality Reporting. The 2023 CMS QRDA I IG outlines requirements for eligible hospitals and critical access hospitals (CAHs) to report electronic clinical quality measures (eCQMs) for the calendar year 2023 reporting period for these programs:
- Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting Program
- Medicare Promoting Interoperability Program
- Outpatient Quality Reporting Program (voluntary)
Changes to the 2023 CMS QRDA I IG include:
- Updates to require patient telephone and email address.
- Updates to provide guidance when report “result as type” such as “result as Quantity”.
Changes to the 2023 CMS QRDA I schematron file:
- Updates to support the changes in the December 2022 Errata release of the Health Level Seven International (HL7) Clinical Document Architecture (CDA®) R2 IG: QRDA Category I (QRDA I), Release 1, Standard for Trial Use (STU) Release 5.3.
- Updates to add assertion rules requiring patient telephone and email address.
Changes to the 2023 CMS QRDA I Sample Files:
- Updates to align with the changes to require patient telephone and email address.
