CMS Selects Inpatient Targeted Hospitals for FY 2028 Validation

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has selected the targeted sample of hospitals for data validation of measures within the Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting (IQR) Program and the Hospital-Acquired Condition (HAC) Reduction Program for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2028 payment determination / program year. It is possible for a hospital to be selected in consecutive years. The quarters included in the inpatient data validation efforts for FY 2028 are first quarter (Q) 2025 (1Q 2025), second quarter 2025 (2Q 2025), third quarter 2025 (3Q 2025) and fourth quarter 2025 (4Q 2025).
All random and targeted hospitals selected for validation are subject to the same requirements. Hospitals selected randomly cannot also be selected as targeted within the same fiscal year. The selected hospital list posted on QualityNet does not publicly indicate which hospitals were selected randomly vs. targeted. 
Selected hospitals will receive a direct email from the CMS Hospital Quality Reporting Validation Support Contractor.
