Hospital Outpatient

An outpatient hospital refers to a medical or surgical care facility classified as a hospital that is usually paid under the Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS), where patients receive services for conditions that do not require an overnight inpatient stay. Outpatient care refers to numerous types of health services, such as emergency department (ED), observation, surgical, diagnostic, and therapeutic services.
