eCQM developers can model the prescriber of a medication or the type of provider who performed an action by using QDM attributes and entities. QDM includes entities such as Patient, Care Partner, Practitioner, Organization, and Location that can be used to describe the person, organization, or location associated with a QDM action.

For example, a “Medication, Order” prescriber can be modeled as a Practitioner and further described by role or specialty, such as a physician who specializes in internal medicine. eCQM expressions can also indicate that the prescriber is the same individual as the participant in an Encounter, Performed.
