Updated PSVA Tool for the 2018 CMS QRDA Category I Schematrons Now Available

July 24, 2018 - 12:46pm

The latest Pre-Submission Validation Application (PSVAinfo-icon) tool, updated with the 2018 Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Quality Reporting Document Architecture (QRDAinfo-icon) Category I Schematrons and standards, is now available. The PSVA tool assists hospitals and their vendors in identifying and correcting QRDA Category I file format errors for test and production files prior to data submission to the CMS electronic clinical quality measureinfo-icon (eCQMinfo-icon) data receiving system.

The PSVA tool will require users to download this new version of PSVA. (Users will need to sign in to the Secure File Transfer [SFT] to acquire the new version of the PSVA tool.) When users open the PSVA tool, the application will run a check against the Schematron that is stored on the server. The PSVA tool will identify that a new Schematron is available and will prompt users to download the new Schematron to their workstation.

CMS will notify hospitals and vendors when the CMS data receiving system will be open to receive test and production QRDA Category I files for all eCQM reporting, including voluntary reporting of the Hybrid HWR measure. Additional notification will be provided when the PSVA tool can be utilized to test the QRDA Category I file format for voluntary reporting of the Hybrid HWR measure.

Note: The CMS data receiving system performs some additional checks beyond the current functionality of the PSVA tool, such as the Clinical Document Architecture (CDA) schema, submission period dates, measure outcome information, and vendor authorization to submit on a hospital’s behalf.
