eCQM Annual Update Pre-Publication Document Now Available; Request for Stakeholder Feedback on Draft Packages Upcoming

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has published the Electronic Clinical Quality Measures (eCQM) Annual Update Pre-Publication Document, which describes changes in the standards and code systeminfo-icon versions used in the updated eCQMsinfo-icon for potential use in CMS quality reporting programs for 2020 reporting/performance period. 

The Pre-Publication Document is designed to help health information technologyinfo-icon (IT)/electronic health record (EHRinfo-icon) developers, Eligible Professionalsinfo-icon/Eligible Cliniciansinfo-icon, and Eligible Hospitalsinfo-icon/Critical Access Hospitalsinfo-icon prepare for the 2020 reporting/performance period through transparent pre-release of expected standards and code system versions.

The eCQMinfo-icon annual update for 2020 reporting/performance is expected to be available spring 2019. Please sign up for and follow the electronic Clinical Quality Improvement (eCQI) Resource Center, CMS, and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) listservs to receive updates and announcements on the eCQM specificationsinfo-icon’ publication and related content.

Upcoming: CMS will invite vendors and stakeholders to review and provide feedback on draft eCQM packages that include logic and header changes for eCQMs under consideration for CMS quality reporting and payment programs. The draft measures in HTMLinfo-icon, XML, and JSON formats will be available March 1 to March 21 on the eCQM Issue Tracker. CMS will issue an announcement when the draft measures are available for feedback.
