Validity

(scientific acceptability of measure properties subcriterion)

The NQFinfo-icon validityinfo-icon criterion tests whether measure specificationsinfo-icon are consistent with the measure intent and captures the most inclusive target populationinfo-icon.  There are two main types of validity, measure validityinfo-icon and data element validityinfo-icon. Measure validity is when the measure accurately represents the concept being evaluated and achieves the purpose for which it is intended (to measure quality). Data element validity is the extent to which the information represented by the data element or code.
