FY 2018 IPPS Proposed Rule Published, Open for Public Comment

On April 28, 2017, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) fiscal year (FY) 2018 Inpatient Prospective Payment System (IPPS) and the Long-Term Care Hospital (LTCH) Prospective Payment System (PPS) Proposed Rule published in the Federal Register (82 FR 19796). The FY 2018 IPPS Proposed Rule initially went on display at the Office of the Federal Register Public Inspection Desk on April 14, 2017.

CMS releases FY 2018 Hospital Inpatient PPS proposed rule

On April 14, 2017, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a proposed rule that would update 2018 Medicare payment and polices when patients are admitted into hospitals.

The rule proposes some changes to clinical quality measure reporting.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) would like to know more about your experience submitting Quality Reporting Document Architecture (QRDA) Category I files containing electronic Clinical Quality Measures (eCQMs).  Whether your comments are in regards to submitting test or production files for the Hospital Quality Reporting (HQR) Program, your feedback is very important to CMS in order to improve the process.

CY 2016 Submission of Electronic Clinical Quality Measure Data Due March 13, 2017

For hospitals participating in the Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting (IQR) Program, the electronic clinical quality measure (eCQM) data submission deadline to submit at least four eCQMs from either Q3 2016 (July 1 – September 30) or Q4 2016 (October 1 – December 31) is Monday,March 13, 2017, at 11:59 p.m. PT. 

CMS Issues Additional Guidance for the “Device, Order not done” Field Submission for VTE-1, VTE-2, and VTE-6 Measures for CY 2016 eCQM Reporting to the Hospital IQR and the Medicare EHR Incentive Programs

The purpose of this announcement is to notify hospitals participating in the Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting (IQR) Program and the Medicare Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Program for eligible hospitals and critical access hospitals that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has issued additional guidance for the “Device, Order not done” field submission for Venous thromboembolism (VTE) measures: VTE-1, VTE-2, and VTE-6 electronic Clinical Quality Measures (eCQMs)
